Friends of the Napa River
The community’s voice for the protection, restoration, responsible development, and celebration of the Napa River and its watershed through education and advocacy.
Friends of the Napa River (FONR) was established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in early 1994. We have worked together with our members and partners through the years on many different Napa River related issues such as flood protection, boating, fishing, watershed restoration, river access and trails, river research, festivals, watershed education, and riverfront development. Moira Johnston Block, the founding president of Friends of the Napa River passed away recently. Moira created this organization and led us all to develop a flood control project of world fame, adhering to Living River principles. She and her legacy are unforgettable.

Groundwater Sustainability

FONR has continued its work on the Groundwater Sustainability Plan (GSA) process. After actively participating in this effort, our Board wrote an educational review of the Plan. Current status reports to our membership can be read here:
County Groundwater Sustainability
The Napa County Flood Control District asked FONR to review the 95%-level construction plans for the next phase of the Napa River Flood Project.
